HERITAGE CHARACTER STATEMENT
The building complex is designed in the Modern style and features; curtain wall cladding, aluminum framing and porcelain enamel spandrel panels set in a strong rectangular grid-like pattern. The interior retains harp/angel motif and custom reception desk. The grouping of office towers established the dominant character of the area.
SUMMARY HISTORY
Following a major oil discovery at Leduc, Alberta in 1947, Calgary quickly emerged as the administrative centre of western Canada's petroleum industry. Very little major construction had taken place in the city since before the Great Depression, and oil company representatives initially made their headquarters in hotel rooms and aging office buildings.
