This site is significant because....
It is a high-quality and characteristic example of the plain Commercial style of architecture in the Beltline from the late 1920s. Minimally adorned, its functional appearance and character define the building. (Style value: Community Historic Resource).
Its contribution to Calgary's historic wholesale/warehouse district, recalls Calgary's historic status as the most important wholesale and distribution centre between Winnipeg and Vancouver. (Activity value: city-wide significance)
It helps to recall and define the semi-industrial character of the northern Beltline as the city's historic warehouse and wholesale centre (Symbolic value: Community Historic Resource).
Character-defining elements: - rectangular plan and flat roof; - concrete foundation and red brick cladding; - brick-covered piers and reinforced concrete lintels; - fenestration pattern including rows of large windows on the second to fourth floors, and large store-front windows at grade; - plain style with minimal ornamentation; - elevated loading dock opening and platform at rear west side of building; and - context of structure, built to lot lines on all sides.
