Previously home to the well known western agricultural newspaper, The Farm & Ranch Review (1911 to 1974), this site demonstrates the importance of Calgary based business to the development of agriculture in Western Canada. Constructed by Calgary businessmen and agriculturists, Charles W. Peterson, Malcolm D. Geddes, H.H. Honens, and William Renton, the structure was completed by 1911 to house the various business interests of this prominent team of civic boosters and journalists. Situated in the commercial/industrial zone of the southerly portion of the Eau Claire district, the plant was constructed through the subsidiary real estate development company of partner M.D. Geddes of Geddes & Sheffield, who put in place plans for the building as early as 1909.
